The Zambezi Waterfront Lodge delivers a tremendous “natural wonder” experience particularly from a more economical perspective. The Waterfront provides visitors with three different accommodation options starting with the chalets, transitioning into the tented village, and finishing with the campsites. The lodge is located approximate 4 kilometers or just over a mile away from Victoria Falls National Park.
The Chalets
The chalets differ in their room arrangements which provides families or groups with varying options for how they choose to stay. Families with older children often opt for placing their children on one level of the chalet with the parents electing for greater privacy on a different level. The chalets also have options which allow a family to stay together in one area if desired.
The are seven different chalets with varying options on configuration. Each chalet consists of three separate rooms with in-suite bathroom facilities. With an A-frame construction, visitors will find two rooms downstairs and either Executive or Family rooms upstairs.
- Executive Rooms – three rooms equipped with double beds and a mini lounge (atop Riverside rooms)
- Family Rooms – four rooms equipped with four twin beds to sleep a family of four
- Standard Rooms – eight rooms equipped with twin beds
- Riverside Rooms – six rooms equipped with twin beds but views of the river
The upper rooms all have balconies while the lower rooms are equipped with patios. Sitting at your chalet is relaxing as you take in the monkeys scampering through the trees and listening to the sounds of nature.
Tented Villages
The tented villages are enclosed tents that are secured on a concrete foundation. You don’t have to think sleeping bags because each tent is equipped with twin beds, a small nightstand and a lamp. The tented villages are also equipped with public restrooms that have heated water with multiple shower stalls, toilets, and sinks.
There is a small wading or relaxing pool located right near the majority of the tents. Some of the tents are grouped together in a common area whereas some of them nestle with the meandering trail that makes its way across the property. More than likely you will witness the monkeys playing and scampering through the trees as you navigate the trail between the dining/activities area and your tent.
Whether you elect to stay in either the tented village or one of the chalets, the buffet breakfast is included in your stay. Breakfast is on your own expense or preparing if you are staying in one of the campsites. Many visitors elect for this option to maximize their saving as the seek to also have the greatest “natural” experience with Victoria Falls, one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World.
The Grounds
The Zambezi Waterfront Lodge is nestled in the trees along the bank of the Zambezi River. The dining area, one of the pools, and the activity center all look out over the Zambezie River. Some of the chalets provide a view of the river, but most are nestled in the jungle. The lodge is located only a few minutes from Victoria Falls making for convenient exploration. Tranquility, relaxation, and peacefulness are words that come to mind when staying at the Waterfront. It is not a 5 star property, but the lodge does make for a wonderful stay and delightful encounter with nature.
