The Sheraton Rio Hotel and Resort has stepped up and become the answer to the question. The hotel is just south of the famous beaches Copacabana and Ipanema. Hotel guests will find a property that delivers the beach with oceans waves, palm trees, historical culture, and granite monoliths that serve as the backdrop amidst the blue sky.

There is so much more to the Sheraton making it an ideal choice when traveling to Rio to explore Guanabara Bay and the surrounding features of this natural wonder of the world.

One of the unique features of the Sheraton Rio Hotel and Resort is that it is the ONLY hotel in the Rio area that has direct access to the beach. All other hotels are set off the beach and require guests to cross the street prior to engaging the sand and oceans waves.

Not the Sheraton, just six steps down from the pool and you are on your own personal and semi-private beach. A beach where you can take a morning stroll and be the only footprints in the sand. Although not the depth or historic prestige of Copocabana or Ipanema beaches, it is pristine, soft sand accompanied by small granite monoliths that add character to the beach. And, it comes with less congestion of the more populated beaches.

The property of the Sheraton Rio used to be an old fishing village. Instead of tearing down and building restaurants and conference rooms, the Sheraton kept the original structures and incorporated them into the setting of the hotel delivering both history and culture into a stay.

Three different fishing structures were remodeled into the Steakhouse, the pizzeria, and the patio casual dining. Guests can find their seats on the patio overlooking the pool, palm trees and more importantly Guanabara Bay, the natural wonder they came to see. The patio dining allows visitors to select from either the casual dining restaurant or the pizzeria.

Although you can eat inside the hotel and still have views of the bay and beaches, the Sheraton recognizes that “outdoors” is where you want to be and they have sought to create an environment that is comfortable and inviting while keeping you in the hands of nature.

The reason you came to Rio was to experience one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The Sheraton does provide fairly easy access to Sugar Loaf Mountain and Corcovado peak which are both necessary for getting some of the best views of the harbor and surrounding features which make it the wonder that it is.

The Sheraton provides free transportation to a station which provides easy access to other transportation services that will complete your journey to either Sugar Loaf, Corcovado or both. The costs are nominal and make this excursion easy.

Taxi services are also available and not expensive. The Sheraton takes it a step further and provides private car services for hire right on property. Not much more than a taxi but with the comfort and peace of having a guide who will escort you to where you need to be and tell you what you need to do or know as you explore the Harbor of Rio de Janeiro.

The Sheraton also helps you enjoy this wonder by just the views they provide from the hotel property. Here are a few images that give you a taste of what you can see of this wonder right from your own room:
