Matterhorn

The Matterhorn is located near the borders of Switzerland and Italy in the Pennine Alps. The Swiss summit is the highest peak on the mountain reaching a height of 14,690 feet (4,477 m). One of the unique characteristics of the mountain is that the plate tectonics are moving the mountain upwards faster than typical erosion.
An additional unique characteristic is the pyramid shape it takes with each side facing the four compass points. Each face of the mountain is so steep that it prevents snow and ice from accumulating on the mountain.
The Matterhorn is one of several mountains that reach similar heights with a good number of other peaks being taller. The Matterhorn stands out as a natural wonder because of its distinctive shape and amazing aesthetics.
More is coming on the Matterhorn including places to stay, things to do, and ways to experience this natural wonder.
