Dead Sea

The Dead Sea, also referred to as the Salt Sea, is located between Israel and Jordan. It is one of the saltiest bodies of water in the world with just over 33% salinity – Almost nine times saltier than the oceans. This however is not its most unique characteristic.
The Dead Sea represents the lowest elevation on the earth’s surface with the shores and water surface reaching an elevation of 1,385 feet (422 m) below sea level. The lake measures 42 miles (67 km) long, 11 miles (18 km) wide, and reaches depths of 1,240 feet (378 m).
The Jordan is the only key water supply reaching the lake and rainfall is less than 4 inches (100 mm) per year. There is more coming on the Dead Sea including where to stay, how to best experience the Dead Sea and on the traditional and historical significance of this natural wonder.
