The Cliffs of Moher are located in Ireland on the south-western edge of The Burren. These cliffs are also referred to as the Cliffs of Coher; their Irish name Aillte an Mhothair translates to "cliffs of the ruin."

The Cliffs of Moher range in elevation from 394 feet (120 m) to 702 feet (214 m). The cliffs are comprised mostly of beds of Namurian shale and sandstone. The cliffs are home to over 30,000 birds from 29 different species.
